The school opened in September 2003 and was the first Academy in South West England. Built on the site of St George Community College which closed in 2003, it is housed in buildings within a new £25 million complex designed by architects Fielden Clegg Bradley.
The building also provides adult education to about 1,200 people. The project, overseen by M2 Flooring Solutions Ltd had 5 different areas fitted with safety flooring and nosing – with all areas in specific colours. Even local graffiti artists helped create something special on some of the staircases.
Genesis NHD nosing was installed to prevent any slips and falls during the busy (and sometimes chaotic) school times!
